“Stick to your task ’til it sticks to you;
Beginners are many, but enders are few.
Honor, power, place and praise
Will always come to the one who stays.
“Stick to your task ’til it sticks to you;
Bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it, too;
For out of the bend and the sweat and the smile
Will come life’s victories after a while.”

There are so many truths in this one little poem. Let’s analyze a few of the phrases.

Beginners are many: Think of all the things that people begin, but fail to finish. In January, Gyms are full of “New Years Resolutioners” working hard to get in shape. Unfortunately many never set foot in the Gym between February and December. They don’t stick with it. This is common in so many situations in our lives. Setting a goal is easy. Sticking to it and consistently doing the work, however, is hard.

Enders are few, Honor, power, place and praise will always come to the one who stays: There is so much to be said for just showing up. Shaun T has caused a lot of people a lot of pain, but in a good way. He is the instructor of the popular Insanity workout videos. He often say’s “just keep pushing play”. His point is, if you will just show up every day and push play and do the workout you will eventually get the results you are hoping for. Most of the important things that are accomplished in this world are accomplished by just showing up day after day and consistently doing work. There are very few things that are started and accomplished in a short amount of time that mean very much. Start by just SHOWING UP day after day and giving what you can.

Changing culture is not easy, it may take years of living your life with your EYES UP and being willing to DO THE WORK day after day and challenging others to do the same. To accomplish this you will need to:

“Stick to your task ’til it sticks to you;
Bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it, too;
For out of the bend and the sweat and the smile
Will come life’s victories after a while.”

You can finish! Don’t give up early because it’s hard, don’t rest early because you think you’ve done enough. Finish what you set out to accomplish. NO MATTER WHAT! Remember to always keep your Eyes Up and Do the Work and you’ll accomplish what you set out to accomplish.
