This past Christmas season, the athletes of Especially for Athletes once again demonstrated the power of using their influence to lift and help those in need. Through their efforts, they raised nearly $4,000 to support a school on the Filipino island of Mindoro Occidental, where over 500 beautiful children face an uncertain educational future.
In this school, students can only attend until government funding runs out—at which point their schooling for the year comes to an abrupt halt. One of our former athletes, currently serving a mission in the Philippines, brought this need to our attention, and our athletes took action.
Understanding that just $200 can provide a full day’s worth of food for the students, our athletes rallied together, raising enough funds to keep the school functioning for an additional 20 days—nearly a full month of learning, growth, and nourishment for these children.
At Especially for Athletes, we believe in using the “Sportlight”—the attention athletes receive—to serve and uplift others. This initiative is a powerful example of how young athletes can make a real difference when they look beyond themselves and act with compassion.
To every athlete who contributed: your generosity has changed lives. Thank you for being a light to these children and an inspiration to us all.
